Michigan Cottage
I was commissioned to paint this cottage in Michigan. My client supplied a pair of photographs, I recommended moving some of the plants and excluding the smaller building in the background. I added the cardinal on the lawn to add life and balance the red of the stairs and chimney.

Watercolor commission - patio
My watercolor of this patio was commissioned as a surprise gift for new owners of this town home. The best view was locked behind garden walls, so the realtor supplied this photo:

As I created my painting, I modified the composition and background to focus on what would be the new owner's view as they returned home each day. I added greenery and emphasized the striking red of the door, garden seat, and pots. Below is my finished watercolor, which the realtor framed and presented at closing:
