Blog : In Art Pursuit

I enjoy drawing, painting, and sculpting from direct observation - both in the studio and plein air. I also like to experiment with different tools and techniques. Following my blog will allow you to see examples of my work in progress and read about what was happening as I made them.

Plein Air Watercolor painting of Oak Park Village Hall

Watercolor Painting of Village Hall, Oak Park, IL 9"x12", by Ted Gordon, 2014

Oak Park's Village Hall was just named to the National Register of Historic Places. In honor, I took my watercolors and my easel to paint this modern building.

The news release noted, "Village Hall is historically significant in Oak Park’s efforts to achieve racial integration and community stabilization during the 1970s."

The day was cool and threatened rain. I planted myself across the street on a small traffic island next to a neighborhood barbershop and a small cafe, both of which drew friendly patrons.
